Puttery, Minneapolis
If you're looking for a unique and entertaining date night, Puttery in Minneapolis should be at the top of your list. Listen…We’re not club people. So while Puttery offers a vibrant atmosphere, it’s perfect for a memorable evening out for parents like us who rarely secure a free evening PLUS a babysitter. Here's a recap of our favorite date night of the year and some tips to make your visit even better.
The Experience
If you’re anything like us, you’ll probably get there 15 mins after your reservation window time….don’t sweat it. It wasn’t a big deal at all. Because of the timing of our babysitters, we were starving by the time we go there so we sat down for a bit to eat first. Let me tell you, pleasantly surprised is an understatement for the food. I promise it wasn’t one of those “anything tastes good when you’re hungry” situations. We really expected bowling alley quality food and that is definitely not what we got.
We grabbed an appetizer and a pizza to share and it was more than enough for the two of us. The dining area offered plenty of seating options, and we had no trouble finding a cozy spot to start our evening.
After dinner, we tackled all three of Puttery's creatively designed mini-golf courses. Each course was filled with intricate details and unique themes, making the wait in line entertaining in itself. We even found ourselves chatting with other couples and groups, adding to the overall fun and friendly atmosphere.
One of the highlights of our night was the people-watching. The place was buzzing with energy, and it was amusing to see everyone having such a great time. The courses were challenging yet enjoyable, and the decor truly enhanced the experience. From feeling like we were in a rich person's library to an art museum, every room was a feast for the senses.
Atmosphere and Decor
Puttery manages to strike the perfect balance between intimate and fun. Whether you dress up or keep it casual, you'll feel right at home. The cozy environment is ideal for a date, and the decor adds a touch of sophistication. Each room is meticulously designed, creating an immersive experience that elevates a simple game of mini-golf into something special.
Tips for First-Time Visitors
Coat Check: If you're visiting during the winter months, call ahead to see if they've implemented a coat check. If not, plan to leave your bulky coat in the car.
Unlimited Courses: Opt for the unlimited courses pass – it's definitely worth it!
Dine In: Plan to eat at Puttery. Unlike many gaming venues, the food here is delicious and well-prepared, perfect for a casual dining experience.
What to Wear
Dress up or down, the choice is yours. Just make sure to wear comfortable shoes, as you might be standing in line for a bit. The relaxed yet stylish environment at Puttery allows for a flexible dress code, so you can feel comfortable and look good.
Best Times to Visit
While visiting during off-peak hours will likely be less crowded, we went on a busy Friday night and still had an amazing time. The lively atmosphere made the crowd feel more like a part of the fun rather than a hindrance. Whether you're looking to chat with others or enjoy an intimate conversation, Puttery accommodates both.
Personal Touches
One of the most memorable moments was when I scored a hole in one. The group behind us in line cheered, making the victory even sweeter, especially since Ethan is usually better at mini-golf. The camaraderie and shared laughter with other patrons added a special touch to the night.
Ethan and I both agreed that Puttery far surpassed other entertainment venues like Dave & Buster's. The absence of children, combined with great food and drinks, set the perfect mood from the moment we walked in.
Conclusion
Our date night at Puttery in Minneapolis was a blast. From the delicious food to the intricately designed mini-golf courses and the lively atmosphere, it was an evening filled with fun and laughter. Whether you're a mini-golf pro or just looking for a unique night out, Puttery is the place to be.
