4th of July Activities

Headed Up North for the fourth? Or maybe you’re hanging around town to catch a fireworks show after some hot dogs on the grill. Either way, we’ve learned over the last few years that it’s nice to have some activities waiting in the wings during vacations.

Here’s our list of activities for all age groups that we’ve either used in the past or we are taking with us this year to our VRBO cabin!

Activities for Young Kids

1 Magnetic Tiles

Seriously. A hit for one and all. Little babies enjoy the flavor, the colors, and the sounds they make. Everyone else from 1-100 years old enjoys building with them!

If you only want to bring part of your stash, here’s a sweet little carrying case!

2 Bubbles

A new tube of bubbles is always a favorite with the young crowd…

3 Piggy Paint

Last year the three year olds painted all the dad’s and grandpa’s toe nails in very patriotic colors. This nail polish is non-toixic…and it washes off really quickly ;)

4 Sand Toys

Even if it’s just in the backyard, new scoopers are always sure to entertain for a few hours.

5 Foam Crafts

This one also spans quite a few ages. As young as 18m will just have fun placing stickers, so they can join in with the big kids during arts and crafts time. This is a great idea to provide a little quiet time among the chaos.

6 Boxes for Collecting

Send your kids on a mission to collect some cool rocks!

Games for Older Kids + Adults

7 Blank Slate

This is our family favorite. You don’t have to be sitting around a table to play and the rules are SUUUUPER simple. This is a great game for many age groups. As soon as you’re old enough to read and write you’ll have fun with this one!

8 Throw Throw Burrito

If you like the energy level of Spoons, you’ll probably like this game. Who doesn’t like a chance to throw a foam burrito at family and friends?

9 Ladder Golf

This is a nice packable game. Beanbags can get bulky. Ladder golf is basically the same concept. My family has been playing this for the Fourth of July for YEARS.

10 Super Skills

This will be a new addition for us this year. It’s supposed to be like if Minute to Win It was a board game.

Crafts For Everyone

11 Coloring Poster

A giant poster to work on over the holiday weekend with room enough for everyone to share!

12 Picture Frames

Bonus points if you bring a portable picture printer or an instant picture camera!

13 Stickers

We buy these for a lot of holidays. They’re just fun.

14 Wind chimes

We’re big fans of useful crafts…especially ones that can be given away as gifts when you’re done with them!

15 Jewelry

Are we sensing a theme here that we plan activities to provide quiet time for the adults?

16 Magnets

These are on our list for this year. Again, we get these for a lot of holidays!
